Class Schedule

All courses are for Nashville Fire Department employees only, unless specifically stated within the course description.  Due to limited class size and offerings, preference will be given to active employees.

 When enrolling into a course you must enter your name (as you wish it to appear on the course completion card) and a valid email address.

Only active Firefighters are eligible for FF Inservice.

If you are an EMS retiree, the same rules apply as active employees.  Classes will start on-time and no late entry is allowed.  You must have all precourse work completed and you must have a student manual with you on the day of the class.  If any of these conditions are not met, you will be asked to reschedule.

This course is open to all EMS paramedics, credentialed FF/Paramedics, and paramedic students. The class will be in Classroom B at the fire academy from 0800 until 1500. Last attendance will not be allowed. This course must be on your own time and no overtime compensation will be paid.

 

Class size is limited and will be first come-first serve. You must be registered prior to January 1, 2025. There are no prerequisites for the class.

 Class location will be the Training Academy ANNEX.

Course Purpose:

The purpose of the Advanced Airway Management class is to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage complex airway situations. This course covers advanced techniques for airway assessment, placement of various advanced airway devices, and troubleshooting common challenges. Participants will learn through a combination of lectures, hands-on practice, and simulation scenarios, ensuring they can confidently respond to critical situations and improve patient outcomes.

Course Objectives:

  1. Understanding Anatomy and Physiology: Deepen knowledge of airway structures and their implications for management.
  2. Assessment Skills: Enhance abilities to evaluate airway patency and identify potential complications.

Course Title: Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS)

Course Description:

The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the rapid assessment and management of patients experiencing acute strokes. This course provides advanced knowledge and skills necessary to improve outcomes for stroke patients through timely intervention and evidence-based practices.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Stroke Recognition: Enhance skills in the rapid recognition of stroke symptoms using established assessment tools.

  2. Pathophysiology Understanding: Gain an understanding of the different types of strokes, their causes, and the pathophysiological processes involved.

Cardiac Emergencies and ECG Review Course Description:

The Nashville Fire Academy is pleased to host the State of Tennessee EMS Instructor/Coordinator course. Details of the course are listed below. This course is a mandatory requirement for obtaining your State of Tennessee EMS Instructor/Coordinator endorsement.

Registration and payment must be completed through the Tennessee EMS Education Association (TEMSEA). Additionally, you are required to enroll for the course via Enrollware.
